JEET KUNE DO TECHNIQUES VIDEO FIXED TARGET TRAINING

Sifu Mark Stewart Explains the Importance of Stance, Alignment Power Line for Fixed or Dead Target Training.

HOW TO CONSTRUCT THE JKD STANCE

Strong Side Forward Your feet should be a little wider than shoulder width apart. Imagine a line that would align you with your target, it would run by your front toe and under the arch of your rear foot. The front toe should form about a 30° angle with the power line.

The left foot, keep your left knee bent slightly inward and raise the left heel slightly . If that heel is too high, you'll have nowhere left to spring from. With the left heel raised, you should feel all of your weight concentrated in the ball of your left foot.

This is the push-off point. It's this ground reaction force that powers virtually every move in JKD-your punches, kicks, footwork, defensive moves all of them, even if you aren't covering any distance, originate from that left foot.
